1. About Carniverse
Carniverse is a neutral online platform that connects car buyers with licensed dealerships across Canada through a blind, anonymous quoting process. We are not a motor vehicle dealer, broker, financier, or party to any vehicle sale or lease. We do not negotiate prices, handle payments, or take possession of any vehicle.
Carniverse assumes no liability for the accuracy of quotes submitted by dealerships, the outcome of any transaction between a buyer and a dealership, or any representations made by either party outside of this platform.
2. Eligibility
- Buyers: You must be at least the age of majority in your province of residence and legally permitted to enter into a vehicle purchase or lease agreement.
- Dealerships: You must be a licensed motor vehicle dealer in good standing under the laws of your province (e.g., VSA in BC, OMVIC in Ontario, AMVIC in Alberta).
- Compliance: All users agree to comply with applicable provincial and federal laws, including consumer protection legislation governing vehicle sales.
3. How the Platform Works
- Buyer Inquiries: Buyers submit a vehicle inquiry specifying the make, model, trim, colour, buying method (finance, lease, or cash), and province. Trade-in information may also be provided.
- Anonymous Quoting: Eligible dealerships in the buyer’s province receive the inquiry and submit quotes. Dealer identity is kept anonymous to the buyer until the buyer explicitly expresses interest in a specific quote.
- Contact Sharing: When a buyer selects a quote as “Interested,” their name, phone number, and email address are shared with that dealership only. All subsequent negotiations and transactions occur directly between the buyer and the dealership.
- Trade-In Valuations: Any trade-in value indicated during the inquiry process is an estimate only. Final trade-in value is subject to in-person inspection by the dealership.
4. Buyer Responsibilities
- No Purchase Obligation: Submitting an inquiry or expressing interest in a quote does not create any legal obligation to purchase or lease a vehicle, or to pay any deposit.
- Accuracy: You are responsible for providing accurate information in your inquiry, including vehicle preferences and trade-in details.
- Direct Transactions: Any agreement, financing arrangement, or payment is made directly with the dealership. Carniverse is not a party to that transaction.
5. Dealership Responsibilities
- All-In Pricing: All quotes must reflect the true all-in monthly payment or total price, inclusive of the vehicle cost, applicable taxes, freight, PDI, and all mandatory fees. No mandatory charges may be added after a quote is submitted.
- Accessories & Add-Ons: Optional accessories, protection packages, and extended warranties are not included in the quoted price unless explicitly stated. These must be offered separately and only upon the buyer’s request.
- Honest Representation: Quotes must reflect vehicles that are genuinely available or orderable. Submitting quotes for vehicles you cannot reasonably deliver is grounds for account suspension.
- Buyer Contact: Buyer contact information shared upon interest must only be used to follow up on the specific inquiry. It may not be used for unrelated marketing without separate consent.
6. Prohibited Conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on this platform:
- Submitting false, misleading, or deceptive quotes or inquiries.
- Using another person’s information without their consent.
- Attempting to circumvent the anonymous quoting system before a buyer has expressed interest.
- Harassing, pressuring, or contacting buyers through channels other than those provided.
- Any activity that violates applicable consumer protection or privacy laws.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and may be reported to the relevant provincial motor vehicle regulatory authority.
7. Limitation of Liability
Carniverse provides this platform on an “as-is” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Carniverse is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this platform, including but not limited to: disputes between buyers and dealerships, inaccurate quotes, failed transactions, or data loss.
8. Privacy Policy (PIPEDA & CASL)
Carniverse is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
- Information We Collect: We collect your name, email address, phone number, province, and vehicle preferences when you register or submit an inquiry. If you provide trade-in information, this may include vehicle details and uploaded photos.
- How We Use Your Information: Your information is used solely to match your inquiry with eligible dealerships and facilitate the quoting process. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party marketers.
- Sharing with Dealerships: Your inquiry details (excluding your contact information) are shared with matching dealerships to enable quoting. Your contact information is only shared with a dealership when you explicitly express interest in their quote.
- Electronic Communications: By registering or submitting an inquiry, you provide express consent under CASL to receive transactional emails from Carniverse related to your account and inquiries. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in our emails.
- Data Retention: Your personal data is retained for as long as your account is active or as required to fulfill the purposes described above. You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us directly.
- Security: We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no online platform can guarantee absolute security.
